GOOD NEWS FROM THE TREASURER!
Last week I wrote about the January drop-off in collections.  I am very pleased to tell you that we have caught up with the expected collections.  Additionally, we had wonderful news from the IRS.  After an 18 month battle with them over an error in recording the Social Security and withholding taxes paid by the Church, they finally saw it our way which resulted in a $980 refund check sent to the church from the IRS!  Maybe someone is watching over Unitarians.            Jim Carney, Treasurer

Save the Date for OUUC’s February Dinner Dance – 2/18/2012
Don’t be Cruel!  Put on your Blue Suede Shoes and bring your loved ones to our Elvis themed dinner dance on Saturday, February 18th at 6:00 p.m. at OUUC.  There will be a delicious pork roast dinner fit for a King and music to get you All Shook Up!   Elvis will be in the church with sweet raffle baskets too.  Admission tickets can be purchased in advance or at the door for $10.00 per adult or $20.00 per family (includes drinks, appetizers, dinner, dessert and dance).   Child care is free!  Hosted by the Stewardship and Finance Committee.

February Social Action
This month, we will support our sister congregation, Urban Hope Unitarian Universalist Community. They are a storefront church in Cleveland’s near west side, which provides a warm and welcoming meeting place for the poorer residents of Ohio City, and once a month they provide a community meal. OUUC will prepare part of the meal on Sunday morning, February 26, for delivery later that afternoon.  Once again, it will be an intergenerational project. The kids will help prepare the meal. If you would like to help, please see DRE Bethany Ward. The February Sunday offertory collections will help defray the cost of the meal.
